THE OBJECTS OF EXCAVATIONS
Between 1950 and 1970 "Maison André" was at the crossroad of all the markets
of objects of excavations and we had between hands the most beautiful objects
of metal from Iran, Greece and Egypt to clear them of their gangue of oxides
or to reconstitute them. Today, it is rather Asia which sends the product of
its excavation. 
The
philosophy of "Maison André" consist to privilege systematically the aesthetic
of the object, its charm, its patina. It means that offering the most beautiful
color or the most beautiful polished. We know that it is an attitude perfectly
anti-scientific but we can't be wrong because we go much less far, in the cleaning
of bronzing, than the museums' laboratories and nobody can ever blame us for
an excessive cleaning.
